Grandma's Handiwork Acrylic Print

I have many pieces of crochet work from my maternal grandmother, all of which revisit memories of me at three years old, sitting on her bed, where she was confined because of crippling septic arthritis. She made gifts for friends--tablecloths, intricate bedspreads, and doilies. She never let her disability hold her back. When I see her stitches, I remember a grandmother who left a legacy without even knowing it, and even though she passed away when I was just four years old, I think of her often.

Before I took up art, I spent 30+ years working for both mainstream and inspirational publishers writing books, curriculum, Hallmark cards, columns (Newsday), and magazine articles. My 21 years as a military wife fed my love for travel and adventure. We lived six years in Germany and in three regions of the U.S., eventually settling in the lush green Willamette Valley of Oregon, which we have called Home for the past 33-plus years.
