Description
"I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do." - John Muir
I ran across this image in my archives and remembered the day I took it, along the ledge above a beach here in Oregon. Dangling roots from gnarly, wind-bent trees reminded me of roots and their place in my life. Family roots. Spiritual roots. Friendship roots. Roots feed me, hold me, and spread a little further each year as I continue to grow. Roots all the way back to my childhood are stlil feeding me today. The most precious of all to me, though, are my spiritual roots which keep me looking to Christ, the "author and finisher of my faith". Storms of life come and go, and those roots have proven strong and trustworthy.
