We've been driving to the upper parts of Yosemite for years. A lot of the time we stay in Mammoth Lakes and drop over Tioga Pass & down to the Valley for a day trip! We've been stopped, occasionally, by snow...but, sometimes, we have been able to get in a little ways & see the snow up there, even if we can't make the trip to the bottom!! It is a gorgeous place, isn't it? :-)

Hi Lynn! Your comment made me smile. Isn't that just the most gorgeous drive up there on Tioga Pass? We discovered it during our last visit (probably because when we were there before the road was still closed for snow), and I could have seriously spent about three days there.
