Description
"The mountains are fountains of men as well as of rivers, of glaciers, of fertile soil. The great poets, philosophers, prophets, able men whose thoughts and deeds have moved the world, have come down from the mountains - mountain dwellers who have grown strong there with the forest trees in Nature's workshops." ~ John Muir
This view of Yosemite is one of my favorites, because it was captured high above the valley, from Tioga Point. It's not the usual view we see in famous photos of Yosemite, and gives a glimpse of this majestic place as John Muir must have first witnessed it.

Bill, you would love it! It is pretty amazing up there on Tioga Pass, above Yosemite Valley.

Pamela, it was a breathtaking view, looking down over Yosemite Valley from up on Tioga Pass. Jim, thank you for the encouragement!

Jenny, your jaw would drop at the sight of Yosemite. It is my favorite place. This was taken in the High Sierras, which is a portion of the Park that overlooks it all. We'd never been up to that level before because it was always snowy and the roads were closed, but in September we housesat for my brother and were able to make it in--and Tioga Road was open! It's alpine level, and absolutely amazing up there.
